GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone improves to 2-0 on the year after defeating cross-town rival Calvin University 8-1 on Wednesday evening. CU swept singles play as their only loss came at no. 1 doubles. CU will have just under a month off before traveling to Ohio Christian on October 21, 2019.

Tanner Howard won 8-5 at no. 3 doubles. Calvin took one point in doubles at the no. 1 doubles spot defeating
Aliaksei Kanstantsinau/
Mateo Jimenez 8-4.
Singles Highlights
The Golden Eagles won all six of their singles matches to easily take the 8-1 win over Calvin.
John Cocoma needed a tie breaker to win the first set at no. 1 doubles but rebounded with a much better second set to win 7-6 (8-6), 6-1.
Tanner Howard won his match due to a retirement by the Calvin opponent in the second set. All six singles matches were won in straight sets by the Golden Eagles.
What's Next?
Cornerstone will have nearly a month off before taking on Ohio Christian on the road on October 21.
