GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Despite taking a 24-23 lead into the half, Cornerstone was unable to upset the Saints of Aquinas College. A strong third quarter and a dominant rebounding edge for the Saints proved to be too much for CU to overcome as they fell 64-48. The Golden Eagles will look to snap their four-game losing skid against Grace Christian this Wednesday as they make the short trip down US-131 to face the Tigers. Cornerstone opened the season with a 74-56 victory over Grace and will be looking for a repeat performance. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 pm and live links will be available at cugoldeneagles.com
Game Flow
- The Golden Eagles came out strong in the first quarter, slowing Aquinas down with a strong zone defense. The Saints were able to hang around throughout the quarter thanks to a strong rebounding effort, but CU led 15-9 after one.
- Aquinas came battling back in the second quarter, continuing to dominate Cornerstone on the glass. Despite trailing Aquinas 28-16 in rebounds, CU held off multiple charges from the Saints to lead 24-23 at the half.
- The Aquinas offense exploded in the third quarter, shooting 64.7% from the field in a 27-point effort. Cornerstone wasn't able to keep pace, giving up the lead for good with 5:20 remaining in the third.
- The Golden Eagles were unable to narrow the gap in the fourth, with Aquinas continuing to claim the majority of rebounds. The Saints were to content to play it slow, chewing up clock en route to a 64-48 victory.

- Rebekah Crosby was dominant on defense for Cornerstone, tallying a career-high 5 blocks.
- Shelby Nyboer led the Golden Eagles offensively, putting up 14 points.
- Bench production was a major positive for Aquinas as they outscored Cornerstone's bench 27-8.
