GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Director of Athletics
Aaron Sagraves is excited to announce that Alex Bahn has been hired as the inaugural Head Coach of the Cornerstone Men's Volleyball program that will begin play in the 2020-21 athletic year. Bahn is a Pennsylvania native and has spent the last four years coaching in both the club and high school ranks after completing his collegiate playing career at Lancaster Bible College in 2014.
"I am thrilled to have Alex and his family join our community here at Cornerstone. From the very first time we had the chance to connect, his passion to serve the Lord and use the game of volleyball as a mission field was so evident. He also understands what we want in all our programs – to help build intentional relationships with Jesus Christ, pursue academic excellence, AND train to be the best athletes we can on the given field of play. Alex has sensed a calling from the Lord to be here in Grand Rapids, and I am excited to see what he can do with this program." - Director of Athletics

Bahn has spent four seasons as the Assistant Boys' and one season as the Girls' Volleyball Coach at York Suburban High School in York, Pennsylvania. He has helped lead the boys' team to two state tournament appearances including state runner-up in 2019. Bahn also helped the boys' team to a District III Finalist in 2018. On the girls' side, Bahn helped the team to districts in 2019 in a state filled with talent at the high school volleyball level.
When asked about taking the position at Cornerstone, Bahn stated, "I am excited for the opportunities that a men's volleyball program can bring to Cornerstone. I am honored to be a part of the building process and to see what God has in store for the program."
From 2018-20 Bahn has also served as a head coach within the Trojan Volleyball Club in Pennsylvania at the U-18 level. Trojan Volleyball Club is one of the elite programs in the state as they provide high level training and competition in both boys' and girls' volleyball.
As a player, Bahn had significant success competing in the USA Boys' Volleyball Junior National Championships four times with Yorktowne Volleyball Club in York, Pennsylvania. The teams best finish included a top 10 honor nationally. Bahn then went on to play collegiately at Lancaster Bible College from 2011-14, where he was named the North Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2013 and served as a team captain.
Bahn will join the staff with his focus being heavily on recruiting as Cornerstone looks to fill out a 15-man roster to start the 2020-21 season. As part of his duties at Cornerstone, Bahn will also work alongside
Trey Reed in game operations and administration. Bahn will spend the next couple weeks to settle in as he and his family make the move to Grand Rapids.
Bahn is married to his wife Olivia and has a daughter Cassidy as well as a new born son Hudson.
