11/17/2020 3:33:00 PM

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In response to the latest protocol issued by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), Cornerstone athletics will be shutting down all athletic activity through December 8 in congruence with "pause to save lives." According to the order that is scheduled to start on Wednesday, November 18, a three week stay in place order has been issued and "gatherings for the purpose of organized sports are prohibited." This order from the MDHHS remains in effect until December 8, 2020 with more information to be provided in the coming weeks.

"While the news from the state on Sunday night bring more challenges to overcome, our coaches and staff remain committed to providing our student athletes with strong and enhanced experiences during their time as student athletes here at Cornerstone. I hurt for our young people that have worked so hard and have been committed to serving their teammates during these unprecedented times.

We had a great fall season and were off to incredible start to the winter one. Now we have to take a pause and look ahead with hopes of resuming play as the state and local authorities continue to try and keep everyone as safe as possible. I am confident our coaches will continue to think creatively to provide those experiences for their teams and our community." – Director of Athletics, Aaron Sagraves
