Women's Basketball comes up short at Trinity Christian

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Golden Eagles continued their season on Tuesday evening with a road contest at Trinity Christian. After an evenly matched first three quarters, the Trolls built their lead to as many as 16 in the fourth quarter before ultimately winning 84-77. The loss sets Cornerstone back to 3-4 on the season. With Cornerstone's announcement earlier today, the Golden Eagles will not be playing any games until December 8 at the earliest. How it Happened:
  • It was a game of runs in the first quarter, as Trinity broke a 4-4 tie by going on a 9-0 run. The Golden Eagles responded with a 10-0 run of their own to take a brief 14-13 lead before the score settled at 18-18 after the first quarter. 
  • The Trolls scored the final seven points of the second quarter to reclaim the lead at halftime, 39-34. 
  • Cornerstone regained the lead early in the third quarter, but Trinity was once again able to fight back to lead 63-59 heading into hte game's final frame.
  • The Trolls turned a seven-point lead into a 16-point lead in the fourth quarter thanks to another 9-0 run. The Golden Eagles ended the contest by scoring the game's final seven points, but it proved to be too little to late as Cornerstone ultimately fell 84-77. 



By the Numbers:
20 – Allyson Richards once again totaled 20 points, her third time already this season with that total. 
5x4 – Five different players recorded four rebounds for CU (Allyson Richards, Sterling DeGayner, Layna Steele, Brooke Modderman, and Maddison Fulks).
30-38 – The Golden Eagles lost the rebound battle by eight.
7 – Cornerstone was only charged with seven turnovers all night, which is the lowest total of the season.
