GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - After falling by a score of 6-1 last time out, the Golden Eagles responded with a 6-1 non-conference home win vs. Huntington. Cornerstone is now 4-2 on the year after winning all three doubles matches to take the first point and winning five of the six singles matches. Cornerstone will now play five matches in five days as they head to Hilton Head, South Carolina for spring break from March 1-5.
Doubles Results
Cornerstone won all three doubles matches to earn the first point.
Mateo Jimenez and
Aliaksei Kanstantsinau won 6-4 at number one doubles while
John Cocoma and
Tomas Yacuzio won 7-5 at number two doubles, and freshmen
Matthew Hall and
Tanner Howard dominating with a 6-1 win at number three doubles.
Singles Results
Cornerstone won all singles matches except for the number one slot. All six matches were decided in straight sets, including a 6-1, 6-1 win at number two singles by
Aliaksei Kanstantsinau.
Tanner Howard improved to 4-0 on the year with a 6-2, 6-1 win at number five singles. Cornerstone earned the 6-1 win overall to improve to 4-2 on the year.
The first game at Hilton Head will take place on March 1 against Tiffin (Ohio) at 3:30 p.m. EST.
