GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Already eliminated from WHAC tournament contention, Cornerstone entered their final game of the 2019-20 season looking to end their year on a high note. Unfortunately, the Golden Eagles were unable to get their offense going in a 66-38 loss to Concordia. CU kept it close through the first half but had no answer for the Cardinals in the second half. Cornerstone ends the season 3-27, with a 1-19 mark in the WHAC and now look ahead to the 2020-21 season.
Game Flow
- Both teams grappled for control in the first. Concordia was able to take the lead early and hold off multiple CU runs to take a five-point lead into the second.
- A three-pointer by Brooke Modderman tied the score at 18's but Cornerstone was never able to get in front. The Cardinals dug in and held a 29-22 lead at the half.
- The second half was all Concordia, which was spearheaded by a dominant third quarter that saw the Cardinals outpace Cornerstone 21-6.
- Senior Broghan Gamble played her final quarter for the Golden Eagles and was subbed out to a standing ovation with a minute left in the game. Cornerstone was unable to make up ground in the fourth, ultimately falling 66-38.

By The Numbers
- Brooke Modderman's 10 points tied a career high, as the junior went 2-3 from deep and 4-7 from the field.
- Shelby Nyboer led the Golden Eagles with 11 points, finishing the season with a team-leading average of 12.1 points per game. Nyboer also led CU by finishing 20 of the 30 games in double figures.
- In her first career start, freshman Skylar Scholten led the team with 5 assists.
- CU was never able to get their offense going, shooting 27.1% from the floor, 22.2% from deep and 20% from the free-throw line.
What's Next?
CU has concluded the 2019-20 season and will now enter the offseason, beginning preparations for 2020-21.
