GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles are one win away from returning to the NAIA DII National Tournament as they return to a familiar stage in the WHAC Tournament Championship at number 14 Madonna. Madonna is the only team that has beaten Cornerstone twice this season. Cornerstone will be looking to win their 11

WHAC Semifinal Recap
The Golden Eagles walked into the top seed Indiana Tech's gym and played just eight guys, and saw three of those guys foul out in the final minutes but pulled out a thrilling 74-73 win to advance to the WHAC Championship where they will play for their 11th WHAC Tournament Championship Title at Madonna.
Carter Nyp was the standout for CU in the game, scoring a season high 21 points off the bench on 8-12 from the field and 4-5 from deep.
Baker Nears 1,000
Tyler Baker scored 19 points in the win at Indiana Tech, including a crucial pair of free throws to give CU the lead in the final minute. With those 19 points, Baker is just 37 points away from reaching 1,000 for his career and becoming the 44th Golden Eagle in program history to hit that mark.
Coach E nears 700
The Golden Eagles now have their longest winning streak of the season at six and have put 27 year veteran Head Coach
Kim Elders just two wins away from yet another milestone in 700 career wins. Elders holds a 698-253 all-time record, which is a 73.4% winning percentage.
Close Game Success
Cornerstone has had one of their more unique seasons in recent years, but have continued to have success in close games as they are now 16-6 this year in games decided by 10 or less points. In games decided by five points or less, the Golden Eagles hold a 9-4 record.
WHAC Championship History
Cornerstone returns to a familiar place for the program as they have dominated the WHAC Tournament over the years and made the championship game in six of the past seven years. CU has won four tournament titles in the last decade and 10 total in Coach
Kim Elders 27 years.
This Year vs. Madonna
Madonna is the only conference team that Cornerstone has lost to in both regular season matchups. CU fell 72-59 on the road in December and 85-78 on February 1 in Grand Rapids.
Scouting the Crusaders
The veteran number 14 Crusaders are led by WHAC Player of the Year Dwight Burton who averages 23.6 PPG. Madonna is the only team in the country to have two players averaging 20+ points per game as Burton's running partner Josh Reynolds averages 20.0 as well. As a team, Madonna averages 84.2 PPG and shoots near 50% from the field at a 48.7% clip. Madonna is also long and lengthy as they rank ninth in NAIA DII in total blocks as a team with 130. Madonna has ended the season strong after a sip mid season, winning seven of their last eight games with the only loss coming at Rochester. MU got redemption against the Warriors of Rochester defeating them in the WHAC Semifinal 97-83. Madonna has scored more than 90 points in each of their WHAC Tournament games as they scored 93 in their quarterfinal win vs. Siena Heights.
