GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles fell behind 1-2 in doubles play and then took just one singles contests as they fell 6-2 to Calvin College. Cornerstone will have a little over a week to rest before returning to action on February 15th against Olivet College.
Doubles Highlights – Calvin, playing on their home court, secured two wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to start the match. The No. 2 doubles flight was able to secure the 8-3 victory in a dominant performance by both
Nicole VerHulst and
Alayna Bowman.
Singles Highlights – The Singles flights struggled, dropping five of the six matches. The sole victory came from
Alayna Bowman at No. 1 singles, defeating her opponent 6-0, 6-3.
Nicole VerHulst also battled back to force a third set in her No. 4 slot after dropping the first set 6-3.
Cornerstone will resume play in Grand Rapids on February 15 when they host Olivet College at Grand Rapids Racquet Club and Fitness.
