HOLLAND, Mich. – The Golden Eagles were able to dominate all doubles flights and take an early 1-0 match lead. However, Hope was able to quickly close the gap, winning four of the six singles matches. All six singles flights seemed extremely even which caused four matches to go three full sets. Cornerstone won't have much time to rest as they take on Davenport University on Saturday, February 8
that MVP Sportsplex.
Doubles Highlights– CU started out the match hot, winning all doubles flights in dominant fashion. None of the three flights allowed their opponents more than three games in their matches.
John Cocoma and
Tomas Yacuzio played one of their best matches of the year, winning 8-2.
Singles Highlights– Singles play was highlighted by a three-set stunning comeback by
John Cocoma. After losing the first set John was able to force a third set and win the match 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. There were three other three-set matches at No. 1, No. 4, and No. 6 that didn't go Cornerstone's way.
Cornerstone will play be back in action on tomorrow, February 8
th, as they take on cross-town foe, Davenport University.
