GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In a match that couldn't be any tighter from start to finish, the Golden Eagles came out on the losing end falling 4-3 to Crossroads League foe Grace College. Grace won two of the three doubles matches, two of those matches going to a tie breaker, which ended up being the difference as the sides split singles play. Cornerstone looks to bounce back on Thursday when they travel down the road to Calvin University for a 4:30 p.m. match.
Doubles Results
Both the number one and number two doubles flight went to a tie breaker after they were tied 6-6. The top flight of
Alayna Bowman and Hanna De Le Vega Sanchez fell 7-4 in the tie breaker, while the second flight of
Valentina Garcia and
Trinity Klamecki won their tie breaker 7-5. The first point of the match would then be decided in flight three, where the CU duo of
Katarina Vasiljkovic and
Nicole VerHulst fell 7-5.
Singles Results
The match stayed tight in singles as
Alayna Bowman won 4-6, 6-3, 10-4 at the top singles position. Hannah De La Vega Sanchez and
Trinity Klamecki also recorded wins in straight sets. With the match tied at 3-3, it all came down to
Katarina Vasiljkovic at number five singles. Her match went to a tie breaking third set thriller, but she ultimately fell 4-6, 6-4, 10-12 resulting in a 4-3 match loss for the Golden Eagles.

Cornerstone returns to Grand Rapids as they will play a road match down the road at Calvin on Thursday, September 24 at 4:30 p.m.
