GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles continued their hot start with a 9-0 sweep of Calvin University to improve to 2-0 on the year. Doubles play remained close throughout but the Cornerstone pairings were able to pull all three games out to take a 3-0 lead into singles play. In singles play, the Golden Eagles were able to sweep all six matches including a 6-0, 6-0 win from
John Cocoma at the top flight. CU does not have any more matches planned for the fall as of right now as further updates will be given for competition at cugoldeneagles.com as soon as possible.
Doubles Results
The number two flight of
Tanner Howard and
Alejandro Santana came out with the biggest win in doubles taking an 8-4 win in their match.
John Cocoma and
Aliaksei Kanstantsinau won at the top flight 8-5 and the duo of
Jose Oliva and
Tanner Howard won 8-6 at the third flight.
Singles Results
John Cocoma dominated his singles match 6-0, 6-0 at the top flight. Two matches went to three sets, as
Aliaksei Kanstantsinau won 4-6, 7-5, 10-7 and
Tanner Howard won 5-7, 6-2, 11-9. Cornerstone handled the rest of the matches in straight sets to earn the 9-0 win and improve to 2-0 on the year.
What's Next?
