GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles completed another program first as the team debuted inside Mol Arena with a match vs. Judson Thursday evening where despite winning the programs first ever set, the team fell 3-1 (25-21, 16-25, 17-25, 15-25). With the loss, Cornerstone goes to 0-2 on the year as they will hit the road this Saturday to take on fellow first year program Mount Vernon Nazarene for a 7 p.m. match. What You Need to Know
- The first ever Golden Eagle men's volleyball point inside Mol Arena was a kill from senior Logan Chagdes.
- After trading points early in the first set, Cornerstone went on a four-point run that saw two kills from Cade Meza to make it 13-10.
- Four straight points for CU would end the set as Judson saw two setting errors and two attacking errors that gave Cornerstone the 25-21 set one win.
- Cornerstone kept the momentum going into set two, getting out to a 7-4 lead that again saw two kills from Cade Meza.
- Judson began to turn things around however with a 6-0 run in set two that saw a pair of kills from Jacob Wallin to take a 13-10 lead.
- The set ended on a 12-4 run for JU, as Jamison Blasing recorded the final kill to win 25-16 and even the match.
- Cornerstone could not get out of their own way early in the third, quickly falling behind 8-1.
- Cornerstone made a late run to try to get back in the set, but 10 attacking errors doomed the Golden Eagles as they fell 25-17.
- Judson once again took advantage early in set four going on top 12-4 with a kill from Joshua Santos.
- Jacob Brinks and Logan Chagdes combined for a few late kills but it was not enough as Judson won set four 25-15 to take the match 3-1.
