GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Junior
Anna VanTubergen highlighted a small group of Golden Eagle track & field throwers/jumpers at the Aquinas Classic at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center, recording a PR throw of 15.40m in the 20lb weight throw. VanTubergen won the event and moved to fifth all-time on CU's indoor list with the mark. Cornerstone is back in action as a full team next weekend as they return to Indiana Wesleyan for the IWU February Invite that will take place on February 5-6.
Men's Results
Zach Kooyer competed in the men's pole vault and finished fourth clearing 3.75m at the event.
Four Golden Eagle men competed in the men's shot put with
Bryce Black recording the best CU finish at 12.20m to place sixth.
In the final event of the day for CU, four men competed in the men's weight throw.
Nick Huynh finished fourth with a throw of 12.74m.
Nathan Tew recorded the next best mark with a throw of 11.77m to finish sixth in the event.
Women's Results
Anna VanTubergen continued her tear in the 20lb weight throw, with an event winning throw of 15.40m to move to fifth on the CU all-time indoor list.
Kiernan Schaefer,
Adrianna Overton, and
Caitlynn Garber all competed in the event as well and finished 13
th, 14
th, and 16
th respectively.
Four Golden Eagles competed in the women's pole vault, with
Tatum Townsend recording the best mark at 2.82m to finish fourth in the event.
Anna VanTubergen also competed in the shot put, and recorded a throw of 10.12m to finish seventh.
Kaitlin Essig finished second in the women's triple jump with a mark of 10.06m.
What's Next?
The full Golden Eagles track & field team will return to action at the IWU February Invite next weekend. Events will take place throughout the day on Friday, February 5 and Saturday, February 6.
