ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Golden Eagles fell behind early, and despite cutting the deficit to just one at the half, they were outscored 3-0 in the second half to fall 5-1. CU has now dropped four straight games as they move to 2-4-1, 0-3-0 WHAC on the year. Cornerstone will have another chance at their first conference win at Rochester on Wednesday, October 6 at 1 p.m.
What you need to know?
- The fast start once again doomed CU, as Megan Starkey found the net for the Cardinals in the 11th minute on a pass from Hazel Wright that was chipped passed the keeper for an easy goal.
- In the 25th minute, Megan Starkey scored her second goal of the game and third goal of the season as she dribbled through the defense and scored in the bottom corner to make it 2-0.
- Just four minutes later, Kylie Adams scored her third goal of the season on a rebound from a header put on net by her sister Sierah Adams to tie the game 2-1.
- The game remained 2-1 in favor of Concordia at the intermission.
- Concordia began to outplay CU in the first 10 minutes of the second half outshooting the Golden Eagles 5-1.
- The Cardinals took advantage of an error during the 61st minute in the box giving Bryce Calka an easy empty net goal for insurance, making it 3-1.
- In the 67th minute, Concordia's Kendra Lewis took a corner and was able to curl it off the post and into the net on touched to make it 4-1 Cardinals.
- Concordia again found the net as they were on fire throughout the second half, as Kiera Savage hit one over the keeper from 30 yards out to make it 5-1.
- Cornerstone was unable to make a comeback, falling 5-1 for their fourth straight loss.
