DEARBORN, Mich. – The Golden Eagles concluded a four-game road trip on Wednesday night with a 1-0 win behind the foot of freshman
Arianna Rau who scored in the 74
th minute on a pass from
Julie Gouilliart. Rau now is tied for the team lead with four goals as Cornerstone concludes the road trip at 2-2 and they improve to 4-5-1 on the year. CU will continue the WHAC season back at home on Saturday as they host Indiana Tech at 1 p.m.
What you need to know?
- Cornerstone blitzed the Wolverines early, nearly finding the net on a pair of corner kicks from Madison Radcliffe as Kylie Adams and Elayna Cady each had a shot saved by UM-Dearborn.
- The turf played very fast as neither team was able to hold much possession from the 15-30-minute mark, with both teams spent a lot of time in the midfield.
- At the half, neither team was able to find the net, as Cornerstone had 10 shots, while UM-Dearborn had just three.
- Hope Steenwyk returned to net for the second half. This would be the first time Steenwyk played the full 90 minutes since September 21.
- Once again the turf seemed to play a factor with not much action happening on either side for the first 25 minutes of the second half.
- With 16 minutes to play, Arianna Rau was finally able to find the net on a great ball from Julie Gouilliart to give the Golden Eagles the 1-0 lead.
- UM-Dearborn recorded three shots in the final 16 minutes, but Cornerstone held, earning a 1-0 road win to conclude the four game road trip 2-2.
