Pair of second half goals down Women’s Soccer 2-1 vs. Indiana Tech

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.  –  Cornerstone dominated the first half, recording the first nine shots of the game and scoring the first goal from the foot of Kylie Adams. However, the second half was a different story as Indiana Tech responded with two goals to go on and win 2-1 over Cornerstone. The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 4-6-1 on the year and 2-5-0 in the conference. CU will continue a home stretch with their Friendship Sports International BOGO night game vs. Siena Heights on Wednesday, October 20 at 4:30 p.m. 
 
What you need to know?
  • Just a minute into the match, Cornerstone recorded their first shot as Arianna Rau put one on net that was saved by the Indiana Tech keeper. 
  • CU stayed on the offensive scoring their first goal of the game off a corner kick in the 18th minute as Kylie Adams turned and scored off a pass from Arianna Rau to make it 1-0. 
  • Cornerstone stifled the Indiana Tech attack as their first shot did not come until the 37th minute and it was saved from CU keeper Hope Steenwyk
  • It looked like Indiana Tech found an equalizer as the ball found the net, but Bailey Elliott was offsides keeping the score 1-0.
  • Right before the break the Warriors hit the post off a corner kick but the ball stayed out as time expired. Score sat 1-0 at the half. 
  • Madison Radcliffe tied a one-time shot early in the second half for CU and it went just high. 
  • In the 58th minute the first yellow card was handed out to Indiana Tech's Danielle Dunn. 
  • After a couple CU fouls, Indiana Tech found a goal on a counter attack as a great pass from Alina Garcia that found the feet of Lily Rothert to tie the game 1-1.
  • A second yellow card was handed out to Indiana Tech in the 61st minute. 
  • Just five minutes later, the Warriors again found the net, as AnnaBella Kowalcyzk headed the ball in off a corner kick that was punched by the CU keeper giving them their first lead of the game 2-1. 
  • Indiana Tech nearly added an insurance goal in the 77th minute, but it went just wide to keep the score 2-1. 
  • Cornerstone was unable to find any offense in the final 15 minutes as they fell 2-1 to drop to 4-6-1 and 2-5-0 in the WHAC. 
 
By the Numbers
3 – Three yellow cards were handed out in today's match all to Indiana Tech. 
13-10 – Cornerstone outshot Indiana Tech 13-10 on the match despite the loss.
