LIMA, Ohio – The Golden Eagles fell behind late in the first half, and couldn't recover at Northwestern Ohio as the 25
th ranked Racers topped CU 2-0. This was Cornerstone's fifth loss in the last six games. CU moves to 3-5-1, 1-4-0 in the WHAC.
What you need to know:
- Northwestern Ohio registered three shots and three corner kicks in the first 36 minutes of the game to put the pressure on CU.
- The Racers scored their first goal of the game when Shakira O'Malley put one in the back of the net, giving UNO a 1-0 lead.
- Laura Helder and Sierah Adams each registered a shot in the 40th minute, putting pressure of their own on Northwestern Ohio.
- UNO put their foot on the gas to end the first half, with 5 shots in the last three minutes of the first half. Hope Steenwyk registered two saves in that span.
- GK Samantha Sebright entered the game at the half, relieving Steenwyk of duty.
- On their first shot of the second half, UNO scored as Miyu Kojima put one past Sebright to extend the Racer lead to 2-0.
- UNO continued their strong offensive possessions with shot after shot and corner kick after corner kick for much of the second half.
- Cornerstone made a late push at the end of the second half but were unable to capitalize on a shot by Alyssa Visser that UNO goalie Martina Galloni was able to stop.
