HOLLAND, Mich. – Cornerstone started hitting threes early and didn't take their foot off the gas in an 87-72 thumping of Calvin University. Division 3 Calvin only hit 16.7% of their threes, compared to 37% for the Golden Eagles, which was a difference maker in CU's second game of the GR Sports Hall of Fame Classic from the DeVos Fieldhouse.
Christian Rodriguez regained his offensive poise, dropping 22 points.
Drew Knickerbocker did his part on the glass, collecting 10 rebounds to lead the Golden Eagles. After the contest,
Carter Nyp and
Cory Ainsworth were named to the All-Tournament team after their stellar play at the GRSHOF Classic, with Ainsworth being named the Ray McCahill Most Valuable Player of the Tournament. Cornerstone moves to 9-3 overall this season.

- Jonny Strube hit a three just over a minute into the contest to open up the scoring for both teams.
- After Drew Knickerbocker made a layup to put CU up 9-5, Calvin scored the next nine points before Cory Ainsworth stopped the bleeding with Calvin up 14-11 with 11:49 to play in the first half.
- Cornerstone went up by double digits for the first time in this game, 31-21, after a Christian Rodriguez three with 3:51 to go in the half.
- Cornerstone took a 41-28 lead into halftime after Luke Rowlinson knocked down a pair of free throws.
- After a couple Calvin field goals cut the lead to nine, Drew Knickerbocker drilled a jumper to give CU a 43-32 advantage early in the second half.
- Both teams continued to trade baskets, with Calvin pulling within six points with 11:31 to play. That was the closest the Knights would come to CU the rest of the night.
- Christian Rodriguez and Cory Ainsworth helped lead the Cornerstone offensive threat the rest of the night as Cornerstone pulled away and took the victory 87-72.
