GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The perfect start to the Cornerstone season ended with an 87-71 defeat at the hands of Olivet Nazarene. The Golden Eagles started strong, holding a seven-point lead early in the game, but the Tigers eventually tied the game and pulled away to win the Cornerstone Classic championship game. ONU's Tyler Schmidt led all players with 29 points and was a big offensive catalyst for the Tiger squad. Center Alex Gross was also hard to contain for CU, as he had a massive 16-point, 16 rebound game. Cornerstone now holds a 4-1 record this season.

- Down 3-2 early in the game, Cornerstone hit three threes behind the splash of Drew Knickerbocker, Carter Nyp, and Christian Rodriguez, while giving up an ONU basket in between, to take an 11-5 lead.
- Tyler Schmidt hit three straight layups for the Tigers to even the game at 11 apiece.
- Back-to-back Cory Ainsworth layups gave CU their largest lead of the game, as they went up 21-14 with 13:04 to play in the first half.
- The momentum swung in favor of ONU after an and-one by Caleb Swearingen after a strong layup and made free throw.
- That layup and the made threes by Landon Pflederer and layups by Tyler Schmidt were part of a 25-6 run by the Tigers en route to taking a 39-27 lead with 6:04 to play in the first half.
- ONU took their largest lead of the first half, going up 17, 47-30, with 4:04 to play in the half.
- Cornerstone responded with back-to-back layups to cut the lead to 13.
- Olivet Nazarene ended the first half up 52-38.
- Down 58-43 early in the second half, Christian Rodriguez cut the lead to ten after hitting a layup and a three with 15:53 to go in the half. That was the closes the Golden Eagles would come to ONU the rest of the game.
