FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Golden Eagles were dealt a tough hand in the opener of the WHAC Tournament as they fell 5-0 to (10) Indiana Tech, ending their season. Cornerstone ends the year with a 4-13-1 record and an eighth-place finish in the conference. CU will now enter the offseason and look to build with a young core for the fall 2022 season.
The Highlights:
- Indiana Tech wasted no time to get on the scoreboard, with a goal in the fifth minute from Will Harris on the assist from Pep Casas.
- Five minutes later, the Warriors found the net again as Brenda Sidaway scored on an assist from Jonas Kahlmann to make it 2-0.
- Jason Lugo recorded the first CU shot in the 18th minute.
- Indiana Tech scored a third as the WHAC's leading scorer Maxwell Amoako found the net on a pass from Brendan Sidaway to make it 3-0 at the half.
- Cornerstone started to get a little more possession in the early stages of the second half as Nate Kaercher recorded a shot.
- The Warriors shut that down though in the 66th minute with a goal from Jaime Rodriguez that brought the IIT lead to 4-0.
- A fifth goal was netted in the 78th minute as Malte Dennert scored on a pass from Ryan Steele.
By the Numbers:
20-6 – Cornerstone was outshot 20-6 in the match.
