WYOMING, Mich. – After 17 days off, Cornerstone erupts for a season high 103 points as 13 players score and four put up double-figures in a 103-65 win at Grace Christian.
Cory Ainsworth led the way with 19 points on 9-13 from the field as nearly every CU player saw the floor. Cornerstone is now 11-5 overall as they travel to NAIA number seven Grace College on Thursday for a tough test to end non-conference play.
What you need to know?
- Kellum Bridgeforth scored the first 13 points for Grace Christian and helped them get out to an early 7-2 advantage.
- Five straight from Christian Rodriguez gave them a 12-11 lead just over five minutes into the contest after the slow start.
- The two teams traded buckets for much of the first half, but Luke Rowlinson hit a pair of threes midway through the period that helped Cornerstone go on top by nine.
- CU ended the half on a 15-4 run that saw two Jonny Strube threes as they led 50-34 at the break.
- Cornerstone exploded for a 9-0 run to start the second half that saw another Jonny Strube three and brought the lead to 25 at 59-34.
- Luke Rowlinson later scored five straight points to push the score to 75-48.
- Luke Rowlinson again hit a three-ball that gave Cornerstone their first 30-point advantage with 8:53 to play, 82-50.
- The bench was able to play the final five minutes and everyone got involved as Mason Brooks, Toby Woolcock, and Zac Velthouse all scored in the final few minutes of play.
- Cornerstone earned a 103-65 victory for their largest win of the year and most points this season.
