Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Coming off a tight 6-3 loss to Hope College on Friday, the Golden Eagles returned to the courts on Saturday when they hosted Spring Arbor at MVP Crahen. The Cougars took two of the three doubles competitions, but the Golden Eagles prevailed in four of the five singles matches – Three of which needed a third set tiebreaker – to win the match 5-2. Cornerstone will return to action next week Saturday when they take on Judson in Kalamazoo.
Doubles Results
The first doubles pairing of
Alayna Bowman and Hannah De La Vega fell in their set by a score of 1-6.
Trinity Klamecki and
Laura Matamoros won their set at second doubles 6-3.
Valentina Garcia and
Katarina Vasiljkovic came up short at third doubles 4-6.
Singles Results
Alayna Bowman took care of business in two sets at first singles, winning 7-5, 6-4.
Valentina Garcia needed three lengthy sets at second singles before coming away with a 6-3, 4-6, 10-3.
Laura Matamoros made quick work of her third singles opponent by winning 6-2, 6-1. Hannah De La Vega dropped her first set at fourth singles, but then forced a tiebreaker before winning 3-6, 6-4, 10-6.
Katarina Vasiljkovic had a long battle at fifth singles but ultimately defeated her opponent 6-2, 5-7, 10-7. Trinaty Klamecki came up short in her sixth singles game but fell 1-6, 2-6.
What's Next?
Cornerstone will return to action next week Saturday when they take on Judson in Kalamazoo.
