Women's Volleyball looks to stay perfect with pair of WHAC road matches

2/23/2021 2:50:00 PM

Best Start since 2007

Cornerstone continues to be perfect with a 10-0 start, tying their best mark since the 2007 season. CU has dropped a total of just three sets this season and defeated receiving votes Indiana Tech and number 19 Madonna last week. Four more wins would break the program record for the most consecutive wins to begin a year, as CU won 13 straight back in 2004 under Steve Burmaster.

Scouting Siena Heights

Siena Heights has played in just four matches this season with their only blunder coming at the hands of receiving votes Indiana Tech in straight sets. Through four matches, SHU has been one of the nation's top 50 teams in blocks per set with just over two per game.

The Saints share the ball well on the attack, as Samantha Getson, Aline Marinelo, and Janel Ruhlman all have over 30 kills. Getson is just a freshman and the team leader with 45 this season.

Kim Berrington is the head coach of both the men's and women's volleyball programs and is in her sixth season. She has gone 489-422 in an illustrious career as a volleyball coach with most of those wins coming as the head coach at Eastern Michigan University.

Scouting Lourdes

Lourdes has yet to win a game in 2021, going 0-5, 0-4 WHAC. Three of the teams losses have come in four sets, including a four set loss earlier this season at Cornerstone.

The Gray Wolves are one of the youngest teams in the WHAC with nine of their players being freshmen or sophomores.

Individually, no one player has stood out for Lourdes with two players leading the team with 41 kills in McKenna Hall and Vanessa Villarreal.
