Nine-run sixth inning helps Softball earn split vs. Saint Francis

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone continued its non-conference slate on Saturday afternoon with two games against Saint Francis. The Golden Eagles struggled in the first game and fell 12-2 due to mercy rule. A nine-run sixth inning in game two propelled the team to an 11-4 victory to salvage the split. Cornerstone's record sits at 7-3 as they prepare for a road trip next weekend that will feature a Friday doubleheader at Olivet Nazarene and a Saturday doubleheader at St. Francis of Illinois.

Game one: Cornerstone 2 – Saint Francis 12 (5 innings)
  • An inside the park home run highlighted a four-run first inning for the Cougars.
  • Saint Francis doubled their score in the second inning by plating another four runs to lead 8-0.
  • Sierra Sanchez got CU on the board with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third inning to make it 8-1.
