GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles played their second NAIA Top 25 team this week and were unable to earn the upset, falling 2-0 to number 22 Northwestern Ohio. UNOH scored a goal in each half to down CU and drop them to 4-3-1, 4-3-1 WHAC on the year. Cornerstone concludes the regular season at Madonna on Monday, March 29 at 4 p.m.
The Highlights:
- The Racers got off to a quick start, scoring in the second minute as Ariana Mondiri dribbled all the way down the right side and beat keeper Mikayla Johnson to give them a 1-0 lead.
- The remainder of the first was dominated by UNOH as they kept possession throughout and outshot Cornerstone 8-1.
- In the second half, Cornerstone increased the offensive pressure earning their first corner kick taken by Erica Mick and finding a couple offensive chances.
- UNOH was able to beat the high press of CU in the 61st minute as Yuna Akiyama scored on the double assist from Ariana Mondiri and Lisa Luiken to add an insurance goal and make it 2-0.
- Kylie Adams had a chance in the final minutes, but Cornerstone was unable to challenge the Racers as they fell 2-0.

Mikayla Johnson made seven saves on the game, while UNOH made just two.
