Men's and Women's Tennis both defeat Aquinas

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Men's and Women's Tennis teams returned to action on Friday against Aquinas at MVP Sportsplex. The women prevailed by a score of 6-1 to earn the program's first ever victory against Aquinas, snapping a streak of 11 straight losses dating back to 2012. The men also came away victorious, winning 5-2. The ladies will be right back in action at MVP Sportsplex on Saturday morning to take on Davenport, while the guys will prepare for March 13's home contest against Northwestern Ohio. 

Women's Results:
Doubles:
Aquinas took the first doubles flight, but the duos of Laura Matamoros and Valentina Garcia as well as Trinity Klamecki and Katarina Vasiljkovic prevailed at second and third doubles to give CU the win in the doubles column. 

Singles
Alayna Bowman won her battle at first singles 6-4, 6-3. Valentia Garcia came up short to her opponent at second singles 3-6, 2-6. Laura Matamoros earned a 6-4 victory in the first game and sealed the third singles flight by following it with a 6-0 win. Hannah De La Vega came away with a 6-4, 6-1 win in the fourth singles slot. Katarina Vasiljkovic dominated the fifth singles slot with a 6-1, 6-0 decision. Trinity Klamecki rounded out the singles action with a tight 7-6 decision in the first frame before a 6-1 win in the second. 

Men's Results:
Doubles:
Aliaksei Kanstantsinau and Mateo Jimenez earned a 6-4 win at first doubles. John Cocoma and Tanner Howard won the second doubles battle by a score of 6-2. Matthew Hall and Jose Oliva fell short at third doubles 4-6, but Cornerstone won 2-1 in doubles action.

Singles:
Aliaksei Kanstantsinau went the distance in his match at first singles, winning 6-1 in the first, falling 3-6 in the second, and winning 10-3 in the decisive third game. John Cocoma earned the win at second singles 6-4, 6-2. Mateo Jimenez came up short at third singles, falling 3-6, 2-6. Jose Oliva also came up short at fourth singles, falling 4-6, 3-6. Alejandro Santana earned a 7-6 victory in the first frame at fifth singles and closed the deal with a 6-4 win in the second frame. Jacob Stegman prevailed in the sixth singles flight with a 6-2, 7-5 victory.
