GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles won their first WHAC Tournament Quarterfinal game since 2015, downing Concordia 2-1 on Saturday afternoon, scoring a pair of goals off corner kicks. Cornerstone is 6-3-1 on the year and will now move on to the WHAC Semifinal as they will take on Aquinas on Wednesday at AQ at 7 p.m.
The Highlights:
- Concordia blitzed the Golden Eagles early, with three shots in the first seven minutes, but were unable to find the net.
- In the 26th minute, Cornerstone found the net first as a Mya Copado corner went off two Concordia defenders' heads and into the net for an own goal to make it 1-0.
- The two teams traded shots the remainder of the first half, but no more goals were scored as CU led 1-0 at the break.
- In the second half on the first corner of the period for CU, Kylie Adams found the net on a Madison Radcliffe cross to make it 2-0 in the 50thminute.
- CUAA was in desperation mode late as Kendra Lewis recorded the only yellow card of the game in the 76th minute.
- After CU made multiple subs, Concordia found the net in the 87th minute as Danielle Bracken dribbled through the defense to find the net and make it 2-1.
- Cornerstone would not allow another shot however as they held on to win 2-1.
By the Numbers:
11-9 – Cornerstone was outshot 11-9 in the game.
5-4 – Despite being outshot, Cornerstone put one more shot on net than CUAA.

Kylie Adams improved her team best goal total to four today.
2015 – 2015 was the last time that Cornerstone won a WHAC Quarterfinal game defeating Concordia as well in that match.

Cornerstone will travel down the road to take on the WHAC Regular Season Champion and top seed Aquinas on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
