SYLVANIA, Ohio – After eight straight home doubleheaders, the Golden Eagles traveled to Ohio to take on Lourdes on Friday. Cornerstone used a six-run second inning to coast to a 6-0 win in game one before completing the sweep with an 8-4 decision in game two. Cornerstone's record jumps to 12-8, 5-5 WHAC. Cornerstone will return to action with another road doubleheader on Wednesday when they travel to Concordia.
Game one: Cornerstone 6 – Lourdes 0
Lourdes threatened to strike first in the opening frame but
Mikayla Meade got out of the inning by leaving two runners in scoring position.
Cornerstone rallied for five hits and all six of their runs in the second inning, capped off by a two RBI double from
Alessa Baldwin-Buchner.
Mikayla Meade went the distance and pitched all seven innings, including a 1-2-3 seventh inning to close out the 6-0 victory.
Game two: Cornerstone
The Golden Eagles started the second game on a strong note by sending all nine batters to the plate in the first inning.
McKenzie Butgereit got the Golden Eagles on the board with an RBI single.
After a bases-loaded walk,
Aliyah Lemmer and
Allisen Martz followed with back-to-back RBI hits to make it 4-0.
Lourdes cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the inning by plating two runs, making it 4-2.

A two RBI double from
McKenzie Butgereit highlighted a three-run fifth inning for CU to extend the lead to 8-2.
Lourdes responded with a run in the fifth and a run in the seventh, but Cornerstone ultimately sealed the 8-4 victory.
By the Numbers

Ashley Loera improved to 3-0 on the season while letting in only three earned runs.
