SYLVANIA, Ohio – A short-handed Golden Eagles women's volleyball program fell 3-1 on the road to Lourdes, ending a five-game winning streak. CU struggled on the serve receive falling in three tight sets to drop back to .500 at 9-9 overall. Cornerstone also suffers their first conference loss as they are now 4-1 in WHAC play. The team will return to action at Siena Heights tomorrow evening at 5 p.m.
Game Recap: Cornerstone – 1 Lourdes - 3 (23-25, 22-25, 25-8, 23-25)
- An early kill from Kaley Dykema led to a 7-5 edge for the Golden Eagles in set one.
- After the set was tied at 13, Lourdes made their first run of the game, using a 3-0 run on two service aces to go on top 16-13.
- Cammy Smith later recorded three straight kills on a 4-0 run to give Lourdes their largest lead at 21-16.
- Behind 23-16, Cornerstone scored four straight to force LU into a timeout on a pair of blocks from Kathryn Detweiler.
- It was too little too late for Cornerstone however as they lost their first set in WHAC play, 25-23 on a Vanessa Villarreal kill.
- Cornerstone fell behind early in set two, but three straight Lourdes attack errors allowed them to tie things at six all.
- An out of sync CU allowed the Gray Wolves to score five straight and forced Head Coach Megan Lenhart into a timeout trailing 11-7.
- A 5-2 Lourdes run out of the first timeout, forced Cornerstone to quickly use their second timeout trailing 16-9.
- Out of the second timeout, Kaylee Dykema and Olivia Keelean each recorded a kill to cut the deficit to five.
- A Rylie Walters kill and Lourdes attack error allowed them to cut the deficit all the way to two at 22-20.
- Once again it was too little too late though, as Lourdes received a set clinching kill from Kylee McBride to win set two 25-22.
- Regan Vaughn took over as libero to begin set three as the Golden Eagles were missing starter Patsy Morris as part of the short-handed roster on the road trip.
- Vaughn helped with serve receive, allowing Cornerstone to get out to an early 7-3 lead in set three with a pair of kills from Olivia Keelean.
- Cornerstone continued to put the pressure on in set three, increasing the lead to 15-6 on a bad set from the Gray Wolves to force a timeout.
- CU scored three more points out of the LU timeout on a Rylie Walters kill, Kayla Sauers ace, and Aubrey Lenz kill to force Lourdes to use their second timeout up 18-6.
- The 8-0 run by Cornerstone led to an easy set three victory, 25-8.
- Lourdes responded well in set four getting out to a 6-1 advantage.
- Cornerstone continued to chip away and was able to gain a set four lead after an Aubrey Lenz kill and a pair of Lourdes attack errors at 12-11.
- The two teams continued to trade points, until Lourdes got on top 19-17 to force the Golden Eagles into a timeout. CU scored right out of the timeout, but two more from the Gray Wolves made it 21-18 and forced Cornerstone into their second timeout.
- Kills from Kathryn Detweiler and Kaylee Dykema helped CU tie things back up at 21 all.
- Lourdes was able to hold on as Kylee McBride recorded a kill to seal the match in four sets 25-23.

Kaylee Dykema crushed her previous career high with 17 kills, hitting .469 on the match.
11-2 – The serve receive was an issue for the Golden Eagles as Lourdes recorded 11 aces to the Golden Eagles two.

Olivia Keelean recorded a dominant double-double with 14 kills and 21 digs.

Kathryn Detweiler led the team with a career high six blocks.

Aubrey Lenz recorded her fifth 40+ assist game with 42 today.
