Women's Soccer wins 2-1 against Olivet Nazarene University

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.? –? In the match against Olivet Nazarene University, the Golden Eagles showcased their talent on both the defensive and the offensive end to win 2-1 in regulation. Things started to get chippy in the second half as there were three yellow cards within 20 minutes in the second half. Overall Cornerstone had possession the entire second half not allowing Olivet to get anything out of their offense improving their record to 2-0-1. Cornerstone is looking for another win at home, against Bethel University Sept. 21st at 7 P.M. 

What you need to know? 

- Number four Kylie Adams, used a great attack as she dribbled into the box to score right past the goalie 15 minutes into the first half. 
- Right after CU's goal, the Tiger's come right back with a goal by Katie Knutte.
- Cornerstone had an answer, with a goal scored 30 minutes into the first half with a great 1-2 pass assisted Kylie Adams and scored by Julie Gouilliart
- A huge save by the keeper Hope Steenwyk 15 minutes into the second half.  
- Yellow card for CU number 17 Elizabeth Kollen
- Yellow card for Olivet Nazarene number eight, Camille Cote. 
- Yellow card number 10 Julie Gouilliart
- Cornerstone held on late to win 2-1. 
- Cornerstone now sits 2-0-1. 

By the Numbers 
- Cornerstone receives their first yellow card since since the 2019 season. 
- Cornerstone out played the Tigers in shots on goal with CU having 11 and Olivet with six. 
- Cornerstone showed excellent discipline on the defensive end forcing Olivet to end the game with 6 offsides. 

What's Next? 
CU is back in action at home, at 7 P.M. on Tuesday Sept. 21st as they take on Bethel University.
