Jersey Night
Cornerstone women's volleyball and men's soccer will host opponents on Wednesday and Cornerstone will be hosting a jersey night. Students are asked to come enjoy either event starting at 7 p.m. in their best college or professional jersey. Women's volleyball will host Lawrence Tech, while men's soccer hosts Aquinas.
Win Streak Milestones
Cornerstone is at a 19-game win streak for their longest since 2016. If Cornerstone can get to 23 that would serve as the longest win streak since 1999. In 1999, CU won 25 in a row for the longest in program history. The home match against Aquinas on October 19 would serve as the 23
rd straight if they can keep the run going and the home match against Indiana Tech on the 22
nd would tie the longest in program history at 25.
Walters nears 1000
Another Golden Eagle senior is nearing a major milestone as
Rylie Walters is 45 digs from 1,000 in her career. She would join
Olivia Keelean and
Patsy Morris to put the total at three Golden Eagles on the current roster with over 1000 digs.
Undefeated First Half
The Golden Eagles have officially completed the first half of the WHAC season and went a perfect 10-0. If they can repeat the first half success, they would become the second team ever in WHAC history to win all 20 regular season conference games. The only other program to do that was Lawrence Tech in the 2019 women's volleyball season.
Scouting This Week's Opponents
Cornerstone has a big week on tap as they take on two 3-7 teams in the WHAC as well as the current second place team in Siena Heights who sits at 14-6, 9-1 WHAC with their only conference loss being at Cornerstone. The Saints are having one of their better years in program history as they are solid all around the floor. SHU really has no specific category that they are dominating in, but they average 12.59 kills per set, 11.66 assists per set, and 16.37 digs per set to go along with a .187 team hitting percentage to rank middle of the WHAC in all categories. Siena Heights is currently on an eight game winning streak for the second longest in the WHAC as they have won seven of those eight in straight sets.
