Hawaiian Night/BOGO Night
Cornerstone will be partnering with rival Aquinas on Wednesday for an awesome theme night that also comes with supporting an important cause. CU is asking the Stone Zone to wear Hawaiian themed gear for the rivalry contest while the Aquinas and Cornerstone Student Athlete Leadership Teams (SALT) will be partnering with Friendship Sports International for a BOGO Night. The two schools will have tables set up to sell shirts and socks. With every shirt and sock purchase, that same item will be sent to Matthew's House to provide the most needed clothing to the homeless population of Grand Rapids as we head into the winter. We ask for fans consideration to support this cause during a big night of volleyball.
Walters Passes 1000
Rylie Walters becomes the third player on the Cornerstone roster this season to now have over 1000 digs as she achieved the milestone on Saturday at Lourdes in a five-set victory. Walters tied a season high with 18 digs to achieve the milestone as she joins
Olivia Keelean and
Patsy Morris as players with 1000+ digs.
Dykema WHAC Attacker of the Week
Kaylee Dykema earns WHAC Attacker of the Week for the first time in 2022 with a dominant three games where she hit over .300 and recorded a single game career high 18 kills. On top of her outstanding offense, she is the first player to 100 blocks this season as she has 282 total blocks in her career putting her 18 from 300.
Win Streak Update
Cornerstone needs one more win to achieve the longest win streak since 1999 with 23. 25 is the most ever set in 1999, which the Golden Eagles can tie with a victory vs. Indiana Tech this week. If CU gets through this week unscathed, they will have the opportunity to set a new program record for consecutive wins at Rochester next Wednesday.
Lenhart Nears 300 Coaching Victories
Head Coach
Megan Lenhart has now won 84 contests in her fourth season at Cornerstone. Lenhart has 209 additional wins from her nine seasons as the Head Coach of Davenport putting her just seven away from 300 career victories. At CU, Lenhart has a win percentage of .682 which puts her fourth all-time among Golden Eagle coaches. She also ranks fourth all-time in total wins at 84, needing 23 more to pass Amy Settle for third.
History vs. Opponents
Cornerstone has been dominant against the three opponents they will face this week with a six-game winning streak vs. rival Aquinas, a seven-game win streak vs. Indiana Tech, and wins in four of the last five games vs. UNOH.
