Women's Soccer ends in a 0-0 tie against UM-Dearborn

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – On a brisk fall night, the Golden Eagles and Wolverines faced off in a defensive battle that ended in the 0-0 tie. There were few opportunities for both teams, but when the opportunities were there, both goalies stood their ground and diminished all opportunities. Cornerstone is now 4-4-2 on the season as they head to Indiana Tech on Saturday, October 8 at 4 p.m.

Game Highlights
• Cornerstone had an early opportunity in the 8th minute with a corner kick by Tori Woodwyk but was not able capitalize on the opportunity.
• UM-Dearborn had a good opportunity in the 17th minute with a foul outside of the box, but no real opportunity was able to come out of it. 
• UM-Dearborn had good opportunities with back-to-back corner kicks in the 31st minute but was not able to capitalize. 
• It has been a great defensive battle between both teams as both have only attempted three shots each. Tied 0-0 at halftime.
• UM-Dearborn has been the aggressor to start the second half as a shot by Morgan Faryniarz shot sailed just left.
• Cornerstone had a great opportunity in the 66th minute when a shot by Shelten Cruces was saved by the UM-Dearborn defender, keeping the game tied 0-0.
• UM-Dearborn had an opportunity in the 81st minute as the shot by Emmi Pinkowski was saved by the Golden Eagle goalie Hope Steenwyk.
Scotland Philip had a great opportunity in the 84th minute but her shot went wide right.
• In the closing minutes, UM-Dearborn had the perfect opportunity with a header by Brooke McClure that was saved again by Hope Steenwyk.
• Cornerstone and UM-Dearborn ended in a 0-0 tie.
