GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone will be hosting a women's basketball and men's basketball double-header vs. Madonna at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., while wrestling hosts Lourdes at 6:30 p.m. in the aux gym on November 16 for the first annual Pack the House Night.
What is Pack the House?
Pack the House is an event CU is starting through a partnership with Friendship Sports International (FSI) and International Disaster Emergency Service (IDES). The event is used to raise money to later have Cornerstone University pack 60,000 meals for those in need in Ukraine, while working to build community by packing the gym all together for one night.
The Goal
The goal is to raise funds through shirt sales ($10) that will help get CU to the amount needed to pack 60,000 meals for Ukraine. Each $10 will provide 25 meals to the grand total for the event. CU is also working with corporate sponsors to help raise funds for when Cornerstone packs the meals at a later date.
Fun Events for You
In this event, the goal is to build community as a campus. To do so, CU will be putting on a multitude of fun events throughout the night. Bob Wells the on-field host of the West Michigan Whitecaps will be leading games such as a dizzy bat race, redneck horseshoes, musical chairs, dance offs, and more during the games. There will be games in the lobby as well, and $1 pizza. All proceeds contributed will go toward purchasing meals to pack for the Ukraine.
Why Now?
Cornerstone wants to use the power of sport to build community for a very important cause. Students, staff, faculty, and community members are all invited to participate in this special event that will go on each year with the goal of packing meals for an area in need each year.
