Fourth Quarter comeback falls just short as Women's Basketball falls at Governors State 68-62

UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill – Cornerstone battled back from an early deficit that saw their fourth quarter comeback fall just short as Cornerstone would lose to Governors State 68-62. Stephanie Ainsworth led the way for the Golden Eagles as they she scored a season high 22 points. Cornerstone will stay on the road as they travel to UM-Dearborn on Wednesday, November 5 for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off. 

Game Highlights:
• It took Cornerstone three minutes before they made their first basket of the game as Jaxi Long hit a jumper making it a 6-5 Governors State lead.
• Governors State extended their lead to 18-9 in the first quarter with little over two-minutes remaining.
• Parish Hudson would make a three to make it a 22-13 ball game at the end of the first quarter.
• The Cougars would jump out to a 26-15 lead in the second quarter before Mackenzie Stein would end the scoring drought for the Golden Eagles.
Stephanie Ainsworth would make a layup to make it a 40-30 game as Governors State would go into halftime with the lead.
Stephanie Ainsworth would hit a three-pointer to end a four-minute scoring drought for Cornerstone as Governor State's lead is 45-37.
• Governors State would end the half going on a 12-3 run to head into the fourth quarter leading 57-42.
Olivia Kubik would make five straight points for the Golden Eagles to make it a 61-47 game with eight-minutes remaining in the game.
Stephanie Ainsworth went on a 10-0 run by herself to make it a 61-57 game with just under three minutes remaining.
• Governors State would end up winning the game at the free throw line as the Cougars win 68-62
