GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles forced two sets to go past 25, but were unable to down the receiving votes Saints at home falling 26-24, 25-15, 26-24. The loss drops Cornerstone to 7-12, 1-9 WHAC on the year as they will take a break from WHAC play until March 16 at Aquinas. The next match for CU will be at Aquinas however as they will take on yet another NAIA Top 15 opponent in number 14 Saint Xavier for a neutral site non-conference battle. First serve is set for 5 p.m. on Friday.
Game Recap – Siena Heights – 3 Cornerstone – 0 (24-26, 15-25, 24-26)
- Cornerstone and Siena Heights went back-and-forth the first few points as a David Galanes kill and a Joshua Beaumont/Max Hernandez block made it 3-3.
- SHU would push the lead to 12-9 on a kill from Alex Garavalia.
- Later Siena Heights would push it to four but never lead by more than that. A Brunno Peres service ace helped Cornerstone survive set point and tie things at 24.
- The Saints responded with two straight points to win set one 26-24.
- The Siena Heights block got them off to a great start in set two, recording four early to lead 12-5.
- Cornerstone did some subbing to try and get back into set two, but they could not stop the SHU offense that hit .556 and won 25-15.
- A 5-0 run for Cornerstone in set three put them on top 8-4 as Hubert Sliwinski highlighted the action with back-to-back service aces.
- Cornerstone continued to lead throughout the set, using a Brunno Peres kill to go on top 18-14.
- SHU responded with five straight points to take their first lead since 4-3 at 19-18.
- CU surged back with four of the next five, capped off by a Patrick Voloch service ace.
- The Saints used a timeout, and Ramon Matos powered them back recording three kills late to give Siena Heights the 26-24 set three victory.

David Galanes led the team with 12 kills and seven digs.
