Men's Volleyball Defeated by #9 Indiana Tech

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.  – Cornerstone took it to #9 Indiana Tech Friday night in a WHAC contest that resulted in a 3-0 win for the Warriors. Despite the set score difference, CU took it to Tech by playing progressively better sets and having leads in all of them. In the third set, the Golden Eagles were up by five points multiple times, but the Warriors were too much as they finished off the match coming back with a 27-25 third set win. This loss drops the Golden Eagles to 4-8 overall, 0-5 in the WHAC.
 
Indiana Tech – 3 || Cornerstone – 0 (25-17, 25-21, 27-25)
  • Down 3-1, CU rattled off three straight points to take and early 4-3 lead in the first set.
  • Tied at 10, Indiana Tech registered four points in a row. CU responded with three of their own, capped by two Warrior errors as Indiana Tech held a 14-13 lead.
  • Late in the first, with the Warriors up 20-17, Indiana Tech took the next five points to win the first set 25-17.
  • Down 9-8, Cornerstone took three straight points, all on Indiana Tech errors, to take an 11-9 lead.
  • Brunno Peres laid the hammer down to knot things up at 15 midway through the second set.
  • After back-to-back Warrior points, David Galanes put the Golden Eagles back on the scoreboard to cut the Indiana Tech lead to 17-16.
  • With set point at 24-20, Jacob Brinks kept CU alive with a kill before Indiana Tech finished the job, winning the set 25-21.
  • Cornerstone got off to a hot start in the third set, going up 5-1 after a Joshua Beaumont kill.
  • Indiana Tech stormed back, eventually taking a 9-7 lead, before Cornerstone rattled off three points in a row, highlighted by back-to-back Brunno Peres kills.
  • Hubert Sliwinski was a force late in the third set as he recorded two straight kills to put CU up five, 22-17.
  • Indiana Tech then took ten of the next 13 points, storming back to end the third set and the match 27-25.
 
By the Numbers 
5 – Max Hernandez and Joshua Beaumont each had five blocks in the contest.
16/15 – Max Hernandez recorded 16 assists while Patrick Voloch added 15.
8/3 – Indiana Tech recorded eight aces compared to Cornerstone's three.
