CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Cornerstone had a strong end to their spring break road trip with a 3-2 win over Thomas More.
Jacob Brinks was a force on offense with 16 kills, and
Hubert Sliwinski was dominant at the net, recording eight blocks. The Golden Eagles had chances to win the match earlier but late runs by TMU helped them steal sets three and four. Cornerstone then played a strong fifth set, pulling off the five-set win. Cornerstone is now 10-16 on the season.

- Thomas More opened up the game with a kill, but CU responded with a 5-0 run that was led by a Jacob Brinks kill and capped by four straight TMU attacking errors.
- TMU regained the lead with a 5-0 run of their own, featuring two service aces.
- Jacob Brinks recorded another kill to start a 3-0 run that led to a 10-7 Cornerstone advantage early in the first set.
- Hubert Sliwinski and Max Hernandez had back-to-back kills to extend the CU lead to 16-12.
- Thomas More would not back down and went on a 3-0 run to tie up the set at 19-19.
- CU and TMU went back-and-forth to finish up the first set until Jacob Brinks put an end to the first set 25-22 on a kill.
- Joshua Beaumont led a 4-0 run early in the second set to help CU take a 7-3 lead.
- Thomas More responded with a 4-0 run of their own to tie the set at 7-7.
- Cornerstone then went on a 4-0 run and 5-0 run midway through the second set, highlighted by three straight Jacob Brinks kills, to take a commanding 16-10 lead.
- The Golden Eagles ended the second set on a strong 8-1 run to take the set 25-16.
- Thomas More and Cornerstone played a pretty even third set, with big kills by Jacob Brinks and David Galanes keeping things close for CU.
- Thomas More was able to finish off the third set with a few kills in the last few points to take that one 25-20.
- TMU went on an early 5-0 run, with a couple kills and a few CU errors, to take an early 5-1 lead.
- CU was able to keep things close after some timely Max Hernandez and David Galanes kill that led to a late 17-16 Golden Eagle lead.
- But Thomas More was able to finish strong, going on a 7-1 run to take the fourth set 25-21.
- An early Hubert Sliwinski kill aided a 3-0 CU run that got them off to a great start in the fifth set.
- Thomas More kept things close, eventually taking an 11-10 lead after 4-1 run.
- But Cornerstone would finish the set on a tear, winning five of the next six points, capped by a Max Hernandez and Joshua Beaumont block, to win the fifth set 15-12.

The Golden Eagles head back to Michigan where they will take a trip down the East Beltline on Wednesday, March 16 for a WHAC contest against rival Aquinas at 7 p.m.
