GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles return to action after nearly two weeks off as they head west yet again to the land of corn to compete in the Bellevue Labor Day Classic in Nebraska. Cornerstone will play four matches again as part of one of the largest tournaments in the NAIA where there will be four courts running at once inside Gordon Lozier Gymnasium. Morris Nears 2k
Four year starting Libero
Patsy Morris recorded 83 digs in the opening four games putting her just 96 away from 2000 on her career. Morris would become just the seventh player in program history to hit 2,000 career digs as she currently sits ninth all-time about to pass both Abby Miedema (2010-13) and Shari Van Engen (2003-06).
Keelean Milestones
Senior
Olivia Keelean came into the 2022 season just nine digs away from 1000 and 155 kills away. In the opening weekend she surpassed 1000 career digs. She also recorded 34 kills putting her 121 away from yet another milestone early in the 2022 season.
Walters Nears Top 10 in Aces
A third senior
Rylie Walters also is nearing a milestone as she sits at 123 total aces in her career, putting her 17 away from moving to 10
th all-time in program history knocking Chelsea Lake off the list who previously served as an Assistant Coach at rival Madonna University. Walters finished top five in the NAIA in aces last season with a career best 67.
Tournament Outlook
The Bellevue Labor Day Classic will host 47 contests in three days as one of the largest NAIA tournaments for women's volleyball. Teams from all over the country will head to Nebraska including one other WHAC opponent in Indiana Tech. Cornerstone last played in this tournament in 2016, under previous Head Coach Ryan Campbell, and they went 1-3 in those four contests with their lone win against Culver-Stockton College out of Missouri.
First Time in Program History
Head Coach
Megan Lenhart and the Golden Eagles will play four teams they have never met before in program history. CU will also face one NAIA top 25 opponent in the four games this weekend in number 24 Ottawa University out of Arizona.
