MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The Golden Eagles fell on the road to Bethel University by a score of 3-2. All the goals were scored within seconds of one another with Bethel pulling it out late over Cornerstone.
Jozlyn VanTol continued her hot stretch of paying with another goal today as well as
Amber Nicholson scoring her third goal of the season. The Golden Eagles have a week off before they hit the road again to play at Lourdes on Saturday, September 24 at 4 p.m.
The Highlights:
• The first opportunity for the Golden Eagles came in the 10th minute with corner kick from
Tori Woodwyk but was not able to capitalize.
• Bethel had a foul right outside the 18-yard box and the shot by
Hannah Luurtsema just sailed just high in the 18th minute.
• In the 21st minute,
Ainsley Harris had a great opportunity with a shot on goal that hit the top crossbar, just missing a goal.
• Cornerstone had another great opportunity in the 35th minute with a shot by
Arianna Rau was saved by the Bethel goalie.
• Cornerstone and Bethel headed into halftime tied 0-0. Cornerstone has outshot Bethel 7-2.
• Bethel started out as the aggressor in the second half as a header by Audrey Lerch was saved by Cornerstone goalie
Hope Steenwyk in the 51st minute.
• In the 58th minute, Bethel was able to find the net as the goal was scored by Jordan Mihut to give Bethel the 1-0 lead.
• Cornerstone answered quickly in the 59th minute with a goal scored by
Jozlyn VanTol to know the game back up 1-1.
• Just 10 seconds later Bethel responds with a goal of their own by Leena Thomas to retake the lead 2-1.

Jozlyn VanTol had an opportunity to tie the game at two, but her shot in the 75th minute went just wide right.
• Off a free kick for Bethel, a pass into the box by Katie Byers led to the goal of Audrey Lerch to extend Bethel's lead 3-1 in the 88th minute.
• 20 seconds later in the 88th minute,
Amber Nicholson finds the net off a pass by
Ainsley Harris to cut the lead 3-2.
• Bethel was just able to hang on in this game 3-2.
