Women's Soccer falls in a tough road matchup at Siena Heights

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Golden Eagles fell in a tough matchup against Siena Heights on Wednesday afternoon. Cornerstone fell early as the Saints scored the first goal of the game 1 minute into the match. Leaving cornerstone with a tough uphill battle from the start. Senior Skylar Scholten scored the only goal of the matchup for Cornerstone thanks to a penalty kick. The Golden Eagles would eventually fall 4-1. Cornerstone returns home Saturday to host Cleary University at 4 p.m. They will also be celebrating the seniors before the game on their careers as a Golden Eagle.

Game Highlights
• Siena Heights wasted no time scoring the first goal of the game. An early corner kick in the 1st minute led to a Saints goal by Erin Tyson, to give them a 1-0 lead in the 1st minute.
Tori Woodwyk was aggressive early with two shots on goal that was saved by the Saints goalie in the 7th minute.
• Siena Heights has stayed aggressive and has had four corner kicks in the firs 15 minute of action, scoring one goal off their opportunities.
• Siena Heights strikes again in the 28th minute. A shot by Lily Tiplady was saved by the Golden Eagle goalkeeper Hope Steenwyk but reflected right to the foot of Erin Tyson for her second goal of the season, extending the lead 2-0. 
• Cornerstone tried to respond after falling down 2-0, but the shot by Jozlyn VanTol just sailed by right of the goal.
• Siena Heights heads into halftime leading 2-0.
• Siena Heights stayed aggressive to start the second half of the game with back-to-back corner kicks in the 47th minute but was not able to capitalize.
• In the 61st minute, Siena Heights extended their lead 3-0 after capitalizing off a corner kick. 
• It has been all Siena Heights, in the 72nd minute they added another goal with a shot by Lily Tiplady extending the lead 4-0.
• In the 83rd minute, Skylar Scholten got the Golden Eagles on the board with a penalty kick.
• Siena Heights closed out the game strong, winning the game 4-1.
