FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Golden Eagles got off to the start they wanted with a 78-62 victory over Spring Arbor. Cornerstone had one rough patch where they allowed Spring Arbor to go on a 16-0 run to take a four-point lead but wouldn't let the Cougars lead again after that.
Toby Woolcock had five first half threes to lead the offense in the first half where
Mason Brooks added 16 in the second half to power the offense. Cornerstone has a true test tomorrow as they take on #9 Indiana Wesleyan at 12 p.m.

- First Half
- The first points of the 2023-24 season belongs to Toby Woolcock and he drains a wing three to get the scoring started for the game.
- Toby Woolcock drills another three pointer and a nice driving layup from Eli Steffen gives Cornerstone an early 10-2 lead.
- A Cory Ainsworth layup and another three from Toby Woolcock gave the Golden Eagles a 20-8 lead with 10 minutes remaining in the first half.
- Spring Arbor has taken advantage of the Cornerstone's bench as they have gone on a 16-0 run to take a 24-20 lead with five minutes remaining in the half.
- Cornerstone used a 10-0 run to take a 30-24 lead thanks to back-to-back banked in threes from Toby Woolcock and a nice post move from Connor Dykema.
- Eli Steffen would close out the half with a jumper to give Cornerstone the 35-26 lead heading into halftime.
- Second Half
- Luke Rowlinson scores his first points of the season to give Cornerstone the 38-32 lead early in the second half.
- Mason Brooks nails back-to-back threes to give the Cornerstone offense a boost to make it 46-46, a 10-point lead with 13:53 remaining in the second half.
- Spring Arbor has cut into the Cornerstone lead as it is now 50-46 with 10-minutes remaining.
- Layups from Luke Rowlinson and Mason Brooks gives the Golden Eagles some breathing room at 56-48.
- Another three from Mason Brooks and first collegiate points from Kayden Bird gives the Golden Eagles a 62-53 lead with six-minutes remaining in the half.
- Kayden Bird and Mason Brooks continue to lead the way down the stretch trading baskets as it is now a 71-57 Cornerstone lead.
- Kayden Bird puts the dagger on the game with a three as the Golden Eagles would win the game 78-62.
