Women's Basketball struggles on the road falling 97-63 to Spring Arbor

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Golden Eagles finished a stretch of three games in four days with a loss to Spring Arbor 97-63. It was not a good night for Cornerstone as they struggled from the floor shooting 38.3% with 18 turnovers as it was all Spring Arbor from the start shooting 51.5% for the game. Olivia Kubik led the way for Cornerstone with a team high 19 points. The banged-up women's basketball team now has two weeks off before their next game as they take on conference foe UNOH for their home and WHAC opener on Saturday, November 18 starting at 1 p.m.

  • First Quarter
    • Maddison Fulks got the scoring started early for the Golden Eagles drilling a three 12 seconds into the game.
    • Spring Arbor then scored nine straight points to take a 9-3 lead after two-minutes of play.
    • The Golden Eagles have struggled to break through the press as the Cougars continue to extend their lead. 18-7 Spring Arbor with four-minutes remaining in the first quarter.
    • Olivia Kubik makes a nice driving layup to end the Golden Eagle scoring drought making it a 24-9 Spring Arbor lead.
    • Olivia Kubik makes a three to end to the first quarter as the Cougars lead 28-12.
 
  • Second Quarter
    • Maddison Fulks finds a cutting Mackenzie Stien as she makes the left-handed layup a minute into the second quarter.
    • Alize Tripp continues to be a thorn in the Golden Eagles side as she scores her 16th point of the game as the Cougars lead 37-14.
    • Megan Bennett and Maddison Fulks make back-to-back layups for the Golden Eagles as it is a 47-20 Spring Arbor lead with four-minutes remaining in the second quarter.
    • Jaxi Long gets on the board with a jumper with a minute remaining in the second quarter.
    • Alize Tripp drills another three pointer to close out the half as she has 27 points to help Spring Arbor lead Cornerstone 57-25 at the half.
 
  • Third Quarter
    • Stephanie Ainsworth and Jaxi Long got the scoring started in the second half for the Golden Eagles making it a 61-29 game.
    • Jaxi Long breaks the three-minute scoring drought with a three for the Golden Eagles as it is now 72-37 Spring Arbor.
    • Cornerstone used a nice 6-0 run that was highlighted by layups from Olivia Kubik and Jaxi Long.
    • Olivia Kubik hit a nice jumper right before the end of the third quarter as Spring Arbor leads Cornerstone 80-46 after three quarters.
 
  • Fourth Quarter
    • It was a slow start for the Golden Eagles in the fourth quarter as a layup from Megan Bennett was good for the first points of the quarter three minutes in.
    • Jaxi Long and Olivia Kubik continue to score for the Golden Eagles as Spring Arbor leads 84-53.
    • Laura Innerebner makes a pair of free throws for her first career collegiate points as Olivia Kubik makes another driving layup, but it was all Spring Arbor in this game as they win 97-63.
