FORT WAYNE, Ind. –After winning five matches in a row, the Golden Eagles were seeking an away upset against (13) Indiana Tech. It wasn't an easy match for Cornerstone as they weren't able to come out on top, as the Warriors of Indiana Tech protect their home territory from the Golden Eagles beating them in four sets 24-26, 23-25, 25-20, 18-25. Golden Eagles stay on the road this weekend for a match against ninth ranked Lourdes University, Saturday at 6 p.m.
Game Recap – Cornerstone – 1 Indiana Tech – 3 (24-26, 23-25, 25-20, 18-25)
- First Set
- A nice dig by Kyi Jagorin gave Patrick Voloch the chance to set David Galanes, Galanes kills it to put the Golden Eagles up 2-0. Followed by a dump by Bruno Peres to put 3 points up against the Warriors. 3-0 Cornerstone lead.
- David Galanes with his second kill, puts Cornerstone up 5-1 early in the first set.
- Tech is able to take the lead for the first time in the first set due to an overpass, the Warriors lead 7-6.
- A service error from Indiana Tech keeps the margins close for Cornerstone, followed by a double block to tie the first set 13 apiece.
- A service ace from David Galanes puts Cornerstone up 18-15.
- The Warriors go on a 3-0 run, reining the set back in, 21-21.
- A pair of attack errors from Cornerstone sees an end to the first set, Indiana Tech winning 26-24.
- Second Set
- Hubert Sliwinski goes through a double block to put Cornerstone up 3-2 early in the second set, followed by an attack error from the Warriors, Cornerstone leads 4-2.
- A straight down the line kill from David Galanes, gives them the lead back in the second set, 5-4.
- A service ace from Indiana Tech gives them a 6-5 lead, followed by another line kill from David Galanes to tie the second set 6-6.
- A smart joust win by Patrick Voloch and a attack error from Indiana Tech, gives Cornerstone the lead once again, 8-6.
- Joshua Beaumont with a straight down kill out of the middle to lead the Golden Eagles to a 9-7.
- An attack error by Indiana Tech gives Cornerstone a 12-9 lead in the second set.
- A 4-0 run by the Warriors gives them the lead 13-12.
- A kill from Tech's Daynte Stewart and a kill from Brunno Peres, assisted by Kyi Jagorin, keeps the second set close. Cornerstone lead 21-20.
- A service error from the Warriors keeps the set tied 22-22.
- The second set ends on a Warrior kill. Cornerstone 23, Indiana Tech 25.
- Third Set
- A double block from Hubert Sliwinski and Andrew Galanes gives Cornerstone the first point of set 3, followed by a lack of communication from the Warriors, giving the Golden Eagles an early lead of 2-0.
- A mix of kills from Cornerstone and an attack error help Cornerstone take the lead 8-4.
- Andrew Galanes sets to David Galanes for another kill, Cornerstone leads 10-5 in the third set.
- An attack error from the Indiana Tech Warriors puts the Golden Eagles up 15-10.
- Series of blocks and successful kills from Cornerstone helps keep them in a comfortable lead, 22-16.
- The service errors don't stop for Indiana Tech, the Golden Eagles win the third set 25-20.
- Fourth Set
