GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone not only battled it out in one game last night against the Life University Running Eagles but also fought against two more teams today an hour apart from each other. Despite a tough battle in the first game against Lawrence Tech, CU would find their footing in the second match versus Trinity International at the Cornerstone Tournament, losing to the visitors Blue Devils 3-1 before defeating to Trinity International 3-0. The Golden Eagles end the day 12-4 on the year and will eagerly await to a tough away matchup at Aquinas College on March 1 at 7 p.m. EST.

Game One Recap: Lawrence Tech – 3 (RV) Cornerstone – 1 (25-19, 25-21, 23-25, 25-20) 

• Patrick Voloch starts off the first set with a quick attack to Hubert Sliwinski to give them the lead 1-0.
• A service error from the Blue Devils keeps Cornerstone in the set 5-7.
• Cornerstone struggles to find their rhythm in the loud Mol Arena. The Blue Devils lead 11-7.
• A smart tool off the block from Andrew Galanes narrows the deficit. The score is 11-12.
• As the Golden Eagles are down 15-18 in the first set, Coach Alex Bahn calls their first timeout.
• The attack errors were a problem for Cornerstone as the first set seems out of their hands. The Blue Devils lead 15-20.
• A long rally comes to an end with a kill through the block by David Galanes. 19-21.
• Two service aces from Lawrence Tech give them the win in the first set 19-25.
• Hubert Sliwinski gets the Golden Eagles started in the second set just as he did the first. The set is tied 1-1.
• A middle attack from the Blue Devils gives them an even larger lead in the second set 3-7.
• David Galanes goes through the block again to inch Cornerstone closer, 6-8 is the score.
• Andrew Galanes flies high from the back row to make the score 13-17 in the second set. Which is followed by a double block from Hubert Sliwinski and David Galanes to make it 14-17.
• Lawrence Tech ends the second set on a kill from the middle ending it 21-25.
• A huge swing from the left arm of Brunoe Peres brings some energy back to the Golden Eagles, followed by a dig kill from Hubert Sliwinski. 5-2 is the score Cornerstone leads.
• Going down 7-2 early in the third set, the Blue Devil call their first timeout of the game.
• Setter Patrick Voloch takes advantage of a free ball and buries the ball into the service of the court to build Cornerstone's lead to 9-4.
• David Galanes kills off the block to give the Golden Eagles an even larger lead of 12-7.
• Killing the ball once again through the block, David Galanes gives the lead back to Cornerstone late in the third set, the score is 19-18.
• A service ace from Max Hernandez inches Cornerstone closer to finishing the third set. 21-18.
• Two kills from Bruno Peres brings Cornerstone to set point in the third, 24-21.
• A service ace from the Blue Devils draws a timeout from Cornerstone, who still lead 24-23.
• David Galanes ends the third set with a kill. Cornerstone wins the third set 25-23.
• A service error from the Blue Devils keeps the fourth set tied 5-5.
• A solo block from Joshua Beaumont gives Cornerstone the lead 7-6.
• Hubert Sliwinski's solo block keeps the fourth set tied 10-10.
• Andrew Galanes with a kill off the block to put the Golden Eagles up 14-12.

Game Two Recap: (RV) Cornerstone – 3 (25-21, 25-17, 25-8) Trinity International – 0

• The first set is off to a rough start for Cornerstone as they go up 2-0 before losing the next three points to Trinity. 2-3.
• The visitors keep the first set close early on, managing to keep the score 4-4.
• Andrew Galanes tips the ball over the block to put the Golden Eagles up 7-5.
• A service ace from Trinity International gives them the lead in the first set 8-7.
• Joshua Beaumont throws down a huge kill for Cornerstone, closing the gap between the two teams 9-10.
• David Galanes with four kills in a row gives the lead back to the Golden Eagles, 13-11. Which forces the Trojans into their first timeout.
• A slide attack and a middle kill from Ethan Walker keeps Cornerstone ahead 17-15.
• A big block from the Trojans keeps them in the first set 20-17.
• Landon Waltz with the kill for Cornerstone building their lead to 23-18.
• A free ball from the Trojans goes out of bounds to bring it to Cornerstone's set point 24-21.
• The set ends on another slide attack from Ethan Walker, 25-21.
• Landon Waltz gets the second set started off with a kill from the right side, 1-0.
• Max Hernandez nets two kills to put Cornerstone up 5-3.
• Landon Waltz pushes and smashes the ball through the block to keep their lead 9-6.
• A double block from Patrick Voloch and Ethan Walker and another kill from Landon Waltz gives Cornerstone their biggest lead of the set so far, 12-7.
• A kill from Max Hernandez helps Cornerstone to continue to build their lead 16-10.
• Jackson Bush smashes the ball onto the court to keep Cornerstone in the lead of the second set 18-14.
• On a third attack attempt from Landon Waltz during one rally, he puts it to bed to put the Golden Eagles up 21-17.
• The second set ends on a net violation by Trinity International, 25-17.
• Cornerstone starts the third set off with a block, two service aces, a kill, and a kill off the block to go on a 5-0 run. Forcing Trinity International into their first timeout of the set.
• A double block error from the Trojans helps to build Cornerstone's lead, 7-2.
• Two serves from Jorge Rios McNutt give Cornerstone the edge to grab two more points in the third set. Followed by a service ace from Rios-McNutt to put them up 12-2.
• David Rodriguez subs into the match and almost immediately gets a kill putting the Golden Eagles up 14-4.
• Jackson Bush grabs another kill in the third set. Cornerstone leads 16-4.
• Landon Waltz racks up two more kills in this set, causing Cornerstone to run away with the game 20-6.
• Trinity International looks disheartened as Cornerstone lead in the third set 23-7.
• David Rodriguez manages to get another kill and give Cornerstone the chance to close out the game. Which they do on a push attack from Jackson Bush, winning the final set 25-8.
