GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone not only battled it out in one game last night against the Life University Running Eagles but also fought against two more teams today an hour apart from each other. Despite a tough battle in the first game against Lawrence Tech, CU would find their footing in the second match versus Trinity International at the Cornerstone Tournament, losing to the visitors Blue Devils 3-1 before defeating to Trinity International 3-0. The Golden Eagles end the day 12-4 on the year and will eagerly await to a tough away matchup at Aquinas College on March 1 at 7 p.m. EST.
Game One Recap: Lawrence Tech – 3 (RV) Cornerstone – 1 (25-19, 25-21, 23-25, 25-20)
- Patrick Voloch starts off the first set with a quick attack to Hubert Sliwinski to give them the lead 1-0.
- A service error from the Blue Devils keeps Cornerstone in the set 5-7.
- Cornerstone struggles to find their rhythm in the loud Mol Arena. The Blue Devils lead 11-7.
- A smart tool off the block from Andrew Galanes narrows the deficit. The score is 11-12.
- As the Golden Eagles are down 15-18 in the first set, Coach Alex Bahn calls their first timeout.
- The attack errors were a problem for Cornerstone as the first set seems out of their hands. The Blue Devils lead 15-20.
- A long rally comes to an end with a kill through the block by David Galanes. 19-21.
- Two service aces from Lawrence Tech give them the win in the first set 19-25.
- Hubert Sliwinski gets the Golden Eagles started in the second set just as he did the first. The set is tied 1-1.

- Setter Patrick Voloch takes advantage of a free ball and buries the ball into the service of the court to build Cornerstone's lead to 9-4.

- Killing the ball once again through the block, David Galanes gives the lead back to Cornerstone late in the third set, the score is 19-18.
- A service ace from Max Hernandez inches Cornerstone closer to finishing the third set. 21-18.

- The visitors keep the first set close early on, managing to keep the score 4-4.
- Andrew Galanes tips the ball over the block to put the Golden Eagles up 7-5.
- A service ace from Trinity International gives them the lead in the first set 8-7.
- Joshua Beaumont throws down a huge kill for Cornerstone, closing the gap between the two teams 9-10.
- David Galanes with four kills in a row gives the lead back to the Golden Eagles, 13-11. Which forces the Trojans into their first timeout.
- A slide attack and a middle kill from Ethan Walker keeps Cornerstone ahead 17-15.
- A big block from the Trojans keeps them in the first set 20-17.
- Landon Waltz with the kill for Cornerstone building their lead to 23-18.
- A free ball from the Trojans goes out of bounds to bring it to Cornerstone's set point 24-21.
