PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – A tough away match for Cornerstone Men's Volleyball goes all the way to a fifth set, as the Golden Eagles rally together escape Trinity with a victory. Cornerstone took the first set comfortably but didn't find their true stride until the fourth and fifth set. The Golden Eagles showed a lot a passion as they never gave up in the final set, which they ultimately won 17-15 on a service ace from junior outside hitter
David Galanes. Cornerstone will once again continue their away travels, finishing off the home game drought at Siena Heights University, on March 21, starting at 7 p.m.
Game One Recap: Cornerstone – 3 Trinity Christian – 2 (25-14, 20-25, 17-25, 25-14, 17-15)
- Set 1
- David Galanes and Ethan Walker get up for the block perfectly to tie the first set 1-1.
- A long rally ends after Joshua Beaumont and Andrew Galanes put a wall between the Trinity Trolls and the other side of the net, blocking the ball to go up 4-3.
- Max Hernandez subs into the game and immediately records the first service ace of the match. 8-6 is the score, Cornerstone leads.
- Ethan Walker and Andrew Galanes put up a double block, the Golden Eagles go up 11-8. Forcing Trinity Christian into their first timeout.
- After a timeout from Trinity Christian, Joshua Beaumont continues to cause problems for the Trolls defense, recording another kill to put the Golden Eagles up 17-11.
- A service ace from Cade Meza keeps Cornerstone in the driver's seat, 19-11.
- Patrick Voloch's serve is unable to be returned by Trinity Christian, the Golden Eagles sit at a comfortable 24-14 lead.

- Cornerstone goes up 2-0 immediately after a service error from the Trolls and a setting error.
- Some critical attack and passing errors from Cornerstone hand Trinity Christian the lead in the second set 5-4.
- Trinity Christian goes on two 3-0 runs, which gives them the lead 18-13 in the second set.
- A service error from the Trolls and an attacking error closes the deficit a bit for the Golden Eagles. The Trolls still lead 21-17 as both teams go into a timeout.
- Andrew Galanes finds the hole in the block to keep Cornerstone in the set but still trailing 22-18.
- The joust at the net is won by Trinity Christian, as they finish out the second set 25-20.

- Ethan Walker takes advantage of the overpass from the Trolls and gives Cornerstone their first lead in the third set 2-1.
- Trinity Christian gets their own group of blocks twice in a row, as they go up 5-2.
- Joshua Beaumont gets a kill off the block for Cornerstone as they still trail Trinity 10-6.
- A service error by the Trolls keeps Cornerstone's hope alive as they still are behind 15-12.
- Joshua Beaumont cannot be stopped, he records yet another uncontested kill from the middle to bring Cornerstone within one point of Trinity Christian, 16-15.
- Out of a timeout, Ethan Walker records another block in the middle of the court to inch closer to Trinity Christian's lead of 22-17.
- Trinity Christian finishes the set strong, winning 25-17 to go up two sets to one.

- Ethan Walker and David Galanes stuff Trinity Christian's middle hitter and go up 2-0.
