Last Week Recap
Cornerstone started a four-game road trip last week, going 1-2 with losses to WHAC foe Lawrence Tech and (11) Saint Xavier before rebounding with a five-set victory over Trinity Christian. Cornerstone moves to 16-10, 7-8 WHAC on the year as they close out the regular season this week with four matches starting at Siena Heights before coming home for two games with Mount Vernon Nazarene and one with Olivet Nazarene.
Senior Day
The Golden Eagles have a young roster but will honor two seniors in the program in
David Rodriguez and manager Hannah Thiry on Friday night before their game with Mount Vernon Nazarene. Rodriguez is a vocal leader on the team who has played in one match this season. Thiry is a manager who has been with the team since the program started in 2021. She helps in so many ways, including managing the social media pages during game days and practices.
Career High's
Cornerstone saw a multitude of players record single game career highs this week with
Andrew Galanes recording 18 kills against Lawrence Tech,
Joshua Beaumont tallying 11 kills against Trinity Christian, and
Ethan Walker adding eight blocks against the Trolls. All three marks served as career highs for the athletes on the week.
Voloch 2,000
Sophomore setter
Patrick Voloch is 151 assists from 2,000 in his career as he has an NAIA high 980 this season. Voloch recorded 1000 career assists earlier this year and is looking to become one of the rare few ever in the NAIA to record a 1,000 assist season with four matches this week.
Tri-Match Outlook
On Saturday, Cornerstone will end their year with a tri-match against receiving votes Mount Vernon Nazarene and Olivet Nazarene. CU will play MVNU at 11 a.m. and then Olivet Nazarene will play MVNU at 1:30 p.m. CU will end the day against Olivet Nazarene at 4 p.m.
