First Game Recap
There is no better way to start a season, than with a victory. Cornerstone got on the right foot to open their season as they earned their first season opening victory since 2009, with a 1-0 win over St. Francis (Ind.).
Boston Knapp's goal was the difference maker as the defense held strong as goalie
Roberto Gutierrez earned WHAC Defender of the Week after his performance last Saturday. The Golden Eagles will look to achieve win number two as they travel to Spring Arbor.
Looking at Spring Arbor
Just like Cornerstone, Spring Arbor opened their season victorious with a 5-2 win over WHAC conference opponent Cleary University. Spring Arbor traveled to Grand Rapids last year to face off against the Golden Eagles, with that game ending in a 0-0 tie after 90 minutes. The Cougars would go on to finish the 2022 season with an overall record of 7-6-7 losing in the conference championship game to the eventual National Champions, Bethel University 1-0. Cornerstone will look to stop the duo of Abdulrahman Al-Rashed and Matheus Cunha as they have started the 2023 season on a high note, both scoring two-goals in their opening game. Game starts at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23.
