LIMA, Ohio – After a week break, women's soccer was back in action against #25 UNOH and came away with a tough 5-0 loss. The Racers scored early and often in the match as they continued to find the back of the net throughout the 90 minutes. The Golden Eagles have dropped their last three conference matches as they are now 5-5-2 (3-3-1) on the year as they return home to face off against Lawrence Tech on Wednesday, October 16 at 5 p.m.
Game Recap – #25 UNOH 5 – Cornerstone – 0
First Half:
- The first shot of the match belonged to UNOH as the through ball found the foot of Mathilda Berg Karlsson who found the back of the net, right past the hands of the Cornerstone keeper in the fifth minute.
- The next opportunity didn't come until the 14th minute as the shot from UNOH was saved by Morgan Scholten.
- The first opportunity of the match by the Golden Eagles came in the 23rd minute as the shot from Tori Woodwyk was saved by the UNOH keeper.
- The Golden Eagles foul a Racer attacker in the box that resulted in a penalty kick. The penalty shot sailed wide left as Cornerstone escaped a dangerous situation in the 30th minute.
- The Racers add another goal in the 31st minute to take a 2-0 advantage.
- Four minutes before the half, the Racers add another goal on a header to take a 3-0 lead.
- Gracie Gortmaker had an opportunity in final minute of the half but sailed wide as the Racers head into halftime up 3-0.
Second Half:
- The first opportunity in the second half came in the 51st minute as UNOH added to their goal tally with another goal to make it 4-0.
- The Golden Eagles had an opportunity in the 63rd minute with a corner kick but the Racers stopped the opportunity for Cornerstone.
- The Racers had back-to-back shot opportunities in the 65th and 66th minute but both shots missed the target.
- The defense of both teams slowed the remainder of the second half as UNOH continued to lead 4-0 with 10-minutes to go.
- In the final seconds of the second half, UNOH scored their fifth goal as they would take down the Golden Eagles 5-0.
